Free eSIM for Estonia FAQs by co:sim

Everything you need to know about the free new-user eSIM offer.

Does the eSIM work on the Saaremaa ferry?
Yes on the Virtsu–Kuivastu route (30 min) — signal holds the full crossing. The Hiiumaa Rohuküla–Heltermaa route may drop mid-strait, reconnecting at Heltermaa terminal.
Can I use it for Estonian e-services like Mobiil-ID?
Yes. The data layer is what Mobiil-ID + Smart-ID need; login and signing flows behave as they do on Wi-Fi.
Will it work on a ferry to Helsinki or Stockholm?
Partially. On 2h Tallinn–Helsinki fast ferries, signal lasts ~20 min after departure and returns ~30 min before Helsinki; the open-sea stretch is offline.
Does the eSIM hold signal inside Tallinn’s Old Town walls?
Yes. Telia has placed micro-cells in key squares like Town Hall Square + Pikk Jalg, so signal stays even in deep cellar venues such as Olde Hansa.
What about the Russia border near Narva?
Coverage extends to the Narva river, but the eSIM will NOT roam onto Russian networks — Russia is not in the EU33 pool. Switch data roaming off if crossing.
Who's eligible for the free eSIM?
New users who have not previously claimed a free eSIM. Eligibility is verified at checkout.
Will I be charged anything?
$0 is charged for the free eSIM. A valid card is collected at checkout for verification only — this prevents the same person claiming multiple free eSIMs. You only pay if you choose to top up later.
How long is the free eSIM valid?
Install and activate the eSIM within 30 days after purchase. Once activated, the free plan is valid for 7 days from your first connection. After that, top up anytime to extend the validity — the same eSIM keeps working.
Can I top up or buy more data after?
Yes. Top up the same eSIM with any paid plan at any time — your data and validity extend instantly, no reinstall required. You can also buy plans for any of our 190+ other destinations.
Can I claim the free eSIM again?
No. This free eSIM is a new-user offer, so it can only be claimed once.
How does the free plan compare to paid plans?
Same high-quality network coverage. Paid plans offer more data and longer validity — and you can top up onto your free eSIM at any time.
