Does the free eSIM work on Greek islands?
Yes. Coverage extends across every island group — Cyclades, Dodecanese, Ionian, North Aegean and Crete. Cosmote is dominant on the islands, with full 4G in main towns and 5G in tourist hubs like Fira, Mykonos and Heraklion.
Will it work on the ferry from Piraeus to Santorini?
Only partly. Cosmote’s maritime signal reaches ~25 km off the coast on either end; open-sea stretches in the middle drop for 2–3 hours. Texts queue and sync once reconnected; video calls aren’t realistic mid-Aegean.
Does it work on the Athens Metro?
Yes. Lines 2 and 3 use in-tunnel antennas keeping 4G alive between stations, including the airport-to-Syntagma stretch. Line 1 (old ISAP) is mostly above-ground anyway.
How is coverage in mountain villages like Meteora, Pelion or Zagori?
