Where your free eSIM works in Norway

Strong 4G/5G across the cities and neighbourhoods most travellers actually visit.

  • Oslo

Tunnelbane T-bane has DAS on all lines; the Sentralstasjon underground concourse stays connected. Holmenkollen ski jump signal holds at the top.

    • Sentrum
    • Grünerløkka
    • Frogner
    • Aker Brygge
  • Bergen

Fjord + UNESCO Bryggen wharf; full 5G along Bryggen + at the top of the Fløibanen funicular.

    • Bryggen
    • Nordnes
    • Sandviken
  • Tromsø

Town has full 5G; tour routes into Kvaløya or Skibotn thin out to patchy 4G. Guides typically pick stops with at least weak LTE.

    • Sentrum
    • Tromsdalen
    • Kvaløya
  • Lofoten

E10 has solid 4G on every bridge + in towns (Svolvær, Henningsvær, Reine, Å). Undersea tunnels drop briefly (<2 min). Remote beaches (Haukland, Kvalvika) weaker but usable for messaging.

What to install before you land in Norway

The eSIM gets you online — these are the local apps it unlocks the moment you arrive.

  • Vy

Norwegian state rail app — Bergen Line, Dovre Line, Nordland Line. The Bergen → Oslo journey has trackside coverage at every station but ~10–15 min drops between Myrdal + Voss.

  • Ruter

Oslo region transit (metro + tram + bus + ferry). The 24h ticket also covers the boats to Bygdøy + the fjord islands.

  • Bolt / Yango

Bolt + Yango compete in Oslo + Bergen. Norwegian taxis are reliable but expensive; Bolt undercuts on weekdays.

  • Yr.no

Norwegian Met Institute’s weather app — best Arctic forecast accuracy, essential for Northern Lights + summit days.

Local prepaid SIM vs. our free eSIM in Norway

What you’d pay at the airport SIM kiosk — and what you save by activating the eSIM before you fly.

ID required — Sold at Narvesen kiosks with long queues at Gardermoen in summer; passport at point of sale.

Norway sits OUTSIDE EU roam-like-at-home — your home carrier charges $10–€15/day. Our free 7-day plan beats both.

Free eSIM for Norway FAQs by co:sim

Everything you need to know about the free new-user eSIM offer.

Does the eSIM work in the fjords?
Towns + ferry ports have full coverage, but sightseeing cruises through Geiranger or Nærøyfjord can lose signal for 60–90 min — fjord walls block towers. Download maps + ferry timetables offline before boarding.
Is the Lofoten archipelago covered?
The E10 has solid 4G on every bridge + in towns (Svolvær, Henningsvær, Reine, Å). Undersea tunnels drop briefly (<2 min). Remote beaches like Haukland or Kvalvika are weaker but still usable for messaging.
Will it work for Northern Lights tours in Tromsø?
Yes — Tromsø has full 5G. Tour routes into Kvaløya or Skibotn thin out to patchy 4G, but guides typically pick stops with at least weak LTE so groups can share photos.
Does it cover Svalbard?
No. Svalbard runs on a separate Telenor Svalbard network NOT in the EU33 bundle — the profile won’t connect in Longyearbyen. Plan for an offline day.
What about the Bergen Line train from Oslo?
Telenor keeps signal at every station + through shorter tunnels, but the stretch between Myrdal + Voss can drop for 10–15 min. The route climbs to 1,222 m at Finse, Norway’s highest mainline station.
Who's eligible for the free eSIM?
New users who have not previously claimed a free eSIM. Eligibility is verified at checkout.
Will I be charged anything?
$0 is charged for the free eSIM. A valid card is collected at checkout for verification only — this prevents the same person claiming multiple free eSIMs. You only pay if you choose to top up later.
How long is the free eSIM valid?
Install and activate the eSIM within 30 days after purchase. Once activated, the free plan is valid for 7 days from your first connection. After that, top up anytime to extend the validity — the same eSIM keeps working.
Can I top up or buy more data after?
Yes. Top up the same eSIM with any paid plan at any time — your data and validity extend instantly, no reinstall required. You can also buy plans for any of our 190+ other destinations.
Can I claim the free eSIM again?
No. This free eSIM is a new-user offer, so it can only be claimed once.
How does the free plan compare to paid plans?
Same high-quality network coverage. Paid plans offer more data and longer validity — and you can top up onto your free eSIM at any time.
