Free eSIM for Romania FAQs by co:sim

Everything you need to know about the free new-user eSIM offer.

Does the eSIM work in the Bucharest Metro?
Yes on all four lines. Metrorex retrofitted DAS across M1–M4 between 2018 + 2022. The newer M2 line has the strongest underground signal.
Will it work on the Transfăgărășan road?
Only in patches. Orange 4G reaches the northern Bâlea Lake entrance + the southern Vidraru Dam end, but the switchbacks around km 60–70 have long gaps. Download offline maps.
What’s coverage like at Bran Castle?
Bran Castle has full 4G at the entrance, ticket area + courtyard. Signal dips briefly in the narrow stairwells but returns on every balcony. Nearby Râșnov Fortress + the forest road stay covered.
Does the eSIM hold along the Black Sea coast and Constanța?
Yes. Mamaia, Vama Veche, Costinești + Constanța itself get full 5G on Orange + Vodafone during the May–September peak. Danube Delta channel boat trips can drop signal.
What about the painted monasteries of Bucovina?
Voroneț, Sucevița, Moldovița + the other UNESCO sites sit in rural Suceava county. Digi Mobil has the deepest rural footprint there — the eSIM may roam to Digi when Orange weakens. Each monastery complex is reliable.
Who's eligible for the free eSIM?
New users who have not previously claimed a free eSIM. Eligibility is verified at checkout.
Will I be charged anything?
$0 is charged for the free eSIM. A valid card is collected at checkout for verification only — this prevents the same person claiming multiple free eSIMs. You only pay if you choose to top up later.
How long is the free eSIM valid?
Install and activate the eSIM within 30 days after purchase. Once activated, the free plan is valid for 7 days from your first connection. After that, top up anytime to extend the validity — the same eSIM keeps working.
Can I top up or buy more data after?
Yes. Top up the same eSIM with any paid plan at any time — your data and validity extend instantly, no reinstall required. You can also buy plans for any of our 190+ other destinations.
Can I claim the free eSIM again?
No. This free eSIM is a new-user offer, so it can only be claimed once.
How does the free plan compare to paid plans?
Same high-quality network coverage. Paid plans offer more data and longer validity — and you can top up onto your free eSIM at any time.
